By 2020 there will be over 360,000 new cancer cases in the Arab world each year. Over half the countries in the Middle East are considered low-to-middle-income countries, and as such are part of the developing world, which struggles with a lack of resources when it comes to cancer care. Most countries in the Middle East – both rich and poor-struggle with the same issues as other developing countries with regards to cancer, and are each at different stages of cancer control. Jordan is burdened with 5000 new cancer cases annually and continuously receives patients from the region seeking top quality care treatment at KHCC which they cannot find anywhere else in the region. Currently, the Center is being stretched to its limits and working at full capacity in order to absorb the rising number of patients and refugees it is receiving from the war inflicted neighboring countries.
